Dr. Cassel was the  the UCSF Presidential Chair for 2018-19. She is a leading expert in geriatric medicine, medical ethics and quality of care. Previously she was the planning dean for the Kaiser Permanente School of Medicine and President and CEO of the National Quality Forum. Dr. Cassel also has served as President and CEO of the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) and the ABIM Foundation.
