Solutions for Developing Physician Leaders
Physician executives from The Council of Accountable Physician Practices (CAPP), a coalition of America’s high-performing multispecialty medical groups and health systems, hosted a panel entitled “Developing Physician Leadership in the Movement to Accountable Care,” at the CAPG Colloquium in Washington, D.C. The event, held on September 29, 2016 focused on recruiting and developing effective physician leaders who are able to facilitate the transformation of the American healthcare system.
“It will not be possible to move the country toward accountable, value-based care without strong physician leadership at all levels of the organization,” said panel moderator Robert Pearl, M.D., Chair of CAPP, and CEO of the Permanente Medical Group and the Mid-Atlantic Permanente Medical Group. “Healthcare systems should view physician leadership as a capital investment for the future with huge ROI. The CAPP medical groups are committed to sharing their considerable experience to help all provider organizations face the challenges ahead.”
Panelists for the event included:
- Moderator: Robert Pearl, M.D., Chair, CAPP, CEO of the Permanente Group and the Mid-Atlantic Permanente Medical Group
- Marc Klau, M.D., Assistant Regional Medical Director for Education, Learning and Leadership, Southern California Permanente Medical Group
- Philip Oravetz, M.D., Medical Director, Ochsner Health System
- Lee Sacks, M.D., Executive Vice President and Chief Medical Officer, Advocate Physician Partners
- Nick Wolter, M.D., Chief Executive Officer, Billings Clinic
